Our Mission

The origin story of Camp Rise Up is one of passion, resilience, and a strong desire to make a positive impact on young lives. It all began with a group of individuals who met during an American Foundation for Suicide Prevention training offered on support group facilitation for children and teens. They realized there was an absence of available support group resources for kids 18 and under who have experienced a loss to suicide and wanted to effect a change.

The founders of Camp Rise Up were inspired by the idea of providing a safe, nurturing space where children and teens could not only have fun but also feel supported, create a sense of community, overcome personal challenges, and know they are not alone. They envisioned a camp that wasn't just about outdoor activities but about creating opportunities for young people to rise above their grief and discover their inner strength.

Additional volunteers with personal experience in suicide loss came aboard to help bring the camp into existence. All committee members worked tirelessly to raise funds, secure a location, and gather volunteers who also shared their mission. Camp Rise Up operates solely on the generous donations and support of the community.

Camp Rise Up aims to foster a positive, inclusive environment where campers feel supported and encouraged. The goal for the future of Camp Rise Up is that it continues to thrive as a beacon of hope and opportunity, helping young people rise to their fullest potential and creating a positive ripple effect that spreads far beyond the camp.

We rise. We remember. We celebrate.

All committee members have personal, lived experience in suicide loss and grief.
